Judging the danger of lightning used to be guesswork. Now with the SkyScan, it's just a simple matter of pushing a button. The SkyScan Lightning Detector is completely self-contained and requires no installation. It will pick up electrical activity as far as 40 miles away and track the storm as it approaches ... giving you plenty of time to clear the field, leave the campground or sail back to shore. Be warned of a storms approach from this lightning detector by an audible tone and by 4 LED's ranged in miles, 0-3, 3-8, 8-20 and 20-40. You can even select the range at which you wish the alarm to sound. SkyScan's state-of-the-art electronics and full digital microprocessor are protected by a rugged weather-resistant plastic housing permitting use in any typical outdoor application. SkyScan’s Lightning Detector is powered by two 9V batteries, which are not included, an optional AC adapter or 12V car cigarette lighter.
